I usually spend very little time in the garden on Sundays. Today I went out just to water, and found that the aphids have reappeared on the eggplants. I got out my insecticidal soap and sprayed again. Other than that, all is looking fine, even if a bit behind this year on the growing. The first summer squash is ready to pick, and we will have some tonight with our Sunday dinner.
While working out there I heard our old friend the pileated woodpecker, and sure enough, there he was across the street on one of Pat's trees. What a noise! Sounds like a jack hammer. Amazing that such a beautiful bird of moderate size could make such a racket.
